689 COVID-19 cases should have been reported on Wednesday out of Va.'s Thursday increase of 1.8K

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 155,535 total cases, 146,957 of which are confirmed and 8,578 are probable. There are 3,328 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 3,097 being confirmed and 231 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 1,844, and deaths are up by 25 since Wednesday. The VDH website stated that "The case count reported on Thursday, October 8, includes 689 cases that should have been reported on Wednesday, October 7, but were not because of a surveillance system reporting issue."

A total of 2,189,792 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia. As of Thursday, the 7-day average for percent positivity in the state is sitting is at 4.8%. Many health districts in Hampton Roads are reporting at 5% or lower in test positivity rate, including: the Peninsula Health District, Eastern Shore District, Hampton, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 623 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 310 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 933 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 73 more hospitalizations from Wednesday.

The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 11,393.

196 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

89 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 617 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,676 in the state - that's 23% usage.

18,278 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
