NORFOLK, Va. - Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters are currently accepting masks donations as face masks are now required for all visitors and outpatients.
CHKD says they are in need of face masks because many family members that visit the hospital do not have one and the hospital then has to provide one.
The hospital says they are in need of adult asks more than masks for children, but are accepting both.
CHKD says they are anticipating on needing 20,000 masks for the next two to three months.
The hospital says the masks do not have to have a certain pattern, but must be a minimum of 2-ply material, made of clean material, and free of any odors. Masks containing shoe laces or rope are not accepted due to the risk of strangulation. Ties are okay for adult masks if they are made of material. For children masks, CHKD prefers something that hooks around the ear instead of the back of the head
Donations are accepted at the patient drop off areas at 601 Children's Lane, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m., to 2 p.m.
CHKD asks for those donating to please call ahead at 757-668-7195 and a staff member will meet you to accept donation.
The hospital says they are also accepting masks through a partnership with Tidewater Sew Vac at any of their 8 retail locations throughout Hampton Roads. They have CHKD mask donation bins available and the masks can be dropped directly in the bin. For location sites, click here.
Masks may also be mailed to CHKD Volunteer Services at 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
