Coronavirus cases, hospitalizations continue to trend down in Virginia

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 56,238 total cases, 53,769 of which are confirmed and 2,469 are probable. There are 1,586 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,482 being confirmed and 104 being probable. The case numbers are up by 463, and deaths are up by 3 since Wednesday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Thursday, there are 598 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 259 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 241 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

129 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 581 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,982 in the state - that's 19% usage.

7,493 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged. That's 64 more patients discharged from Wednesday's count.

  • Chesapeake 697 cases, 105 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+13 cases from Wednesday)
  • Accomack 1,018 cases, 66 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+0 cases from Wednesday)
  • Northampton 267 cases, 39 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+2 cases from Wednesday)
  • Hampton 251 cases, 37 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+3 cases from Wednesday)
  • Norfolk 704 cases, 88 hospitalized, 7 deaths (+6 cases from Wednesday)
  • James City County 237 cases, 57 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+1 cases from Wednesday)
  • Newport News 402 cases, 43 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+3 cases from Wednesday)
  • Poquoson 12 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Wednesday)
  • Williamsburg 54 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+0 cases from Wednesday)
  • York County 94 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+0 cases from Wednesday)
  • Portsmouth 402 cases, 60 hospitalized, 13 deaths (+7 cases from Wednesday)
  • Gloucester 40 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths (+2 cases from Wednesday)
  • Virginia Beach 936 cases, 112 hospitalized, 27 deaths (+13 cases from Wednesday)
