Local cities continue to report daily double digit coronavirus cases, Portsmouth reports 3 new deaths from Tuesday

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 59,514 total cases and there are 1,661 total coronavirus related deaths.

The case numbers are up by 520, and deaths are up by 16 since Tuesday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 567 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 319 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 235 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

107 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 611 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,995 in the state - that's 20% usage.

7,765 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 792 cases, 116 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+18 cases from Tuesday)
  • Accomack 1,034 cases, 69 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+1 cases from Tuesday)
  • Northampton 270 cases, 38 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Hampton 276 cases, 38 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+5 cases from Tuesday)
  • Norfolk 771 cases, 93 hospitalized, 7 deaths (+24 cases from Tuesday)
  • James City County 247 cases, 57 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+2 cases from Tuesday)
  • Newport News 463 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+11 cases from Tuesday)
  • Poquoson 16 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Williamsburg 54 cases, 11 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • York County 106 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+0 cases from Tuesday)
  • Portsmouth 426 cases, 66 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+5 cases, +3 deaths from Tuesday)
  • Gloucester 45 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths (+3 cases from Tuesday)
