NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - A deputy with the Newport News Sheriff's Office has tested positive for coronavirus, according to officials.
Sheriff Morgan says the deputy does not work in the jail and the deputy was asymptomatic when tested positive.
According to Sheriff Morgan, the deputy had come in contact with someone who tested positive. Those who have came in close contact to the deputy will be offered testing.
The Sheriff's Office says that all deputies have been issued PPE and are screened daily.
According to the Newport News Sheriff's Office, they are trying to get community testing done, but it has not been confirmed just yet.
