Norfolk, Virginia Beach report highest local coronavirus case count increase from Sunday

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 62,189 total cases, 59,522 of which are confirmed and 2,667 are probable. There are 1,740 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,635 being confirmed and 105 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 453, and deaths are up by 8 since Sunday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday, there are 535 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 261 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 225 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

101 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 591 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,982 in the state - that's 20% usage.

8,023 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 887 cases, 130 hospitalized, 20 deaths (+8 cases, +2 hospitalizations from Sunday)
  • Accomack 1,039 cases, 71 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Northampton 269 cases, 39 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Hampton 316 cases, 41 hospitalized, 5 deaths (+6 cases from Sunday)
  • Norfolk 889 cases, 104 hospitalized, 9 deaths (+34 cases, +3 hospitalizations from Sunday)
  • James City County 258 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+4 cases from Sunday)
  • Newport News 513 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths (+13 cases from Sunday)
  • Poquoson 19 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+0 cases from Sunday)
  • Williamsburg 56 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+1 case from Sunday)
  • York County 115 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+1 case from Sunday)
  • Portsmouth 471 cases, 68 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+12 cases from Sunday)
  • Gloucester 48 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 death (+3 cases from Sunday)
  • Virginia Beach 1,145 cases, 118 hospitalized, 29 deaths (+22 cases from Sunday)
