North Carolina announces more free testing sites as state reports 1,153 new COVID-19 cases

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

As of Wednesday, there are now 146,779 cases, 1,001 people hospitalized and 2,396 COVID-19 related deaths. Our viewing area saw 23 new cases and no new deaths.

That is 1,153 new cases, 25 fewer hospitalizations and 35 additional deaths from Tuesday.

The state has focused on ways to increase the number of tests. Wednesday, Governor Roy Cooper announced more free testing sites in communities where they are needed.

“Cost should not prevent people from getting a test,” Cooper said.

He said officials will continue to work to make testing more accessible.

A total of 1,978,094 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.
