North Carolina reports highest single day COVID-19 case count with 2,423 cases reported in 24 hours; Local viewing areas report 28 cases, zero deaths

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

On Friday, NCDHHS experienced technical issues that delayed updating the dashboard until around 6 p.m.

As of Friday, there are now 246,346 cases, 1,181 people hospitalized and 4,114 COVID-19 related deaths.

That is 2,423 new cases, 24 fewer hospitalizations and 32 additional deaths from Thursday. This marks the highest daily case count increase since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 3,753,953 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.
