North Carolina reports record single-day COVID-19 case increase with 8,444 new cases, breaking record set last week

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released their daily update involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

As of Friday, there are now 431,219 PCR positive cases and 34,885 antigen positive cases, 2,824 people hospitalized and 6,125 COVID-19 related deaths.

That is 8,444 new total cases and 60 additional deaths from Thursday, marking a new record high for single-day case increases in the state.

172 cases were reported locally, with Pasquotank County reporting the highest increase at 69 cases.

A total of 6,231,842 total COVID-19 tests have been completed in North Carolina.
