Virginia Beach reports over 100 new coronavirus cases as Virginia surpasses 80k total cases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 80,393 total cases, 77,380 of which are confirmed and 3,013 are probable. There are 2,051 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,948 being confirmed and 103 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 1,022 and deaths are up by 3 since Tuesday.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 772 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. That is a rise of 10 more confirmed positive hospitalizations in 24 hours.

There are 385 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 253 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

136 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 635 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,999 in the state - that's 21% usage.

10,331 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 1,850 cases, 176 hospitalized, 24 deaths (+60 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Tuesday)
  • Accomack 1,057 cases, 76 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+0 cases, +2 hospitalizations from Tuesday)
  • Northampton 285 cases, 44 hospitalized, 28 deaths (+4 cases from Tuesday)
  • Hampton 772 cases, 43 hospitalized, 4 deaths (+21 cases from Tuesday)
  • Norfolk 2,389 cases, 149 hospitalized, 20 deaths (+60 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Tuesday)
  • James City County 464 cases, 59 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+8 cases from Tuesday)
  • Newport News 1,276 cases, 65 hospitalized, 14 deaths (+39 cases, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
  • Poquoson 30 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+2 cases from Tuesday)
  • Williamsburg 97 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+1 case from Tuesday)
  • York County 237 cases, 13 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+3 cases, +1 hospitalization from Tuesday)
  • Portsmouth 1,085 cases, 103 hospitalized, 21 deaths (+39 cases, +2 hospitalizations, from Tuesday)
  • Gloucester 112 cases, 11 hospitalized, 1 death (+3 cases from Tuesday)
