Virginia coronavirus daily case count up less than 500 since Saturday

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 61,736 total cases, 59,071 of which are confirmed and 2,665 are probable. There are 1,732 total coronavirus related deaths, with 1,628 being confirmed and 104 probable. The case numbers are up by 489, and deaths are up by 8 since Saturday.

A total of 625,663 PCR testing encounters have now happened in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Sunday, there are 523 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 295 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 235 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

107 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 604 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,973 in the state - that's 20% usage.

8,005 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Norfolk 855 cases, 101 hospitalized, 9 deaths
  • James City County 254 cases, 58 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News 500 cases, 44 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson 19 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg 55 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths
  • York County 114 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth 459 cases, 68 hospitalized, 16 deaths
  • Gloucester 45 cases, 9 hospitalized, 1 deaths
  • Virginia Beach 1,123 cases, 118 hospitalized, 29 deaths
  • Franklin City 47 cases, 3 hospitalized, 2 deaths
