Virginia sees 923 more COVID-19 cases since Monday; 4 local areas remain over 10% test positivity rate as state percentage decreases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 147,516 total cases, 139,961 of which are confirmed and 7,555 are probable. There are 3,187 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 2,976 being confirmed and 211 being probable. The case numbers are up by 923, and deaths are up by 15 since Monday.

A total of 2,039,510 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday, there are 598 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 360 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 958 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 68 less hospitalizations from Monday.

The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 10,978.

202 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

113 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 625 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,113 in the state - that's 20% usage.

17,576 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

As of Tuesday, the statewide 7-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is at 4.6% which is down .10% from Monday. Locally, Franklin, Isle of Wight, Southampton and Suffolk all remain over 10% test positivity rate for their respective areas.
