Virginia sees over 2k new COVID-19 daily cases for 3rd day in a row; Virginia Beach sees highest local case increase

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 2,071 total cases, 188,853 of which are confirmed and 19,980 are probable. There are 3,860 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 3,569 being confirmed and 291 being probable. The case numbers are up by 2,071, and deaths are up by 25 since Tuesday.

This is the third day Virginia has seen over 2,000 new daily COVID-19 cases.

A total of 2,983,430 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday there are 1,105 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19. There are 364 people receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are still pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,469 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 77 more hospitalizations from Tuesday.

The total statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations that have been reported over time is now 13,707.

318 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

126 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 797 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,960 in the state - that's 27% usage.

22,594 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.
