HAMPTON, Va. - There’s one thing the coronavirus pandemic can’t take away – love.

80 years ago, Vernon Belor, 101, met his wife Jessie, 99, while serving in World War II. On May 11, 1940, one month after meeting, the two secretly eloped; it was the day before Mother’s Day.

Over the many years together the Belor’s traveled the world. Their love stood the test of time and still does, even during the COVID-19 crisis. So, what’s the secret their success?

“Kissing him,” Jessie Belor said. “He has the most kissable lips.”

Chris Glenn has been the couple’s caretaker for more than a year and said their love is unlike any other.

“He said back in the beginning, what he loved most about her was her swinging hips, but now it’s just pure love that she stuck with him for all this time,” Glenn said. “And she said what she loves about him are his kissable lips.”

The Belors' plan on celebrating their 80th wedding anniversary at home under quarantine.

News 3 wishes them a very happy anniversary with many more years of beautiful memories.
