CURRITUCK Co., N.C. - Currituck County declared a state of emergency ahead of Tropical Storm Isaias effective Sunday, August 2 at 7 a.m.

Currituck County's public information officer Randall Edwards said in a statement that based on the current information provided by the National Weather Service, the county has decided not to issue an evacuation order at this time.

Emergency operations staff will continue to monitor Isaias and maintain consistent communication with the National Weather Service and NC Emergency Management. Any significant changes to the storm’s predicted track or intensity may prompt Currituck County to reconsider an evacuation.

All residents and property owners are advised to finish preparations for Isaias. Gale-force winds are expected to reach the area by Tuesday morning, August 4.
