CURRITUCK Co., N.C. - The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office says the driver of the suspect vehicle involved in the fatal hit and run Sunday has voluntarily come forward to officials.

Around 1:51 a.m., deputies say a vehicle traveling northbound in the 600 block of Caratoke Highway struck a pedestrian on a bike. The vehicle then pulled into Moyock Commons and fled the area northbound towards Virginia on Caratoke Highway approximately 2 minutes later.

Based on surveillance footage, the vehicle appears to be a 1992-1996 Toyota Camry that was silver or gold in color. The vehicle sustained damage to the driver side headlight, driver side hood, and appeared to crack the driver side windshield.

The driver side mirror popped out, but the housing remained on the vehicle. The vehicle has also been located and is being held by officials.

Police say the investigation is still on going.

Contact the NC Highway Patrol at (252)-792-4101 or the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number at (252)-232-2216, with any information to assist the investigation.
