DARE COUNTY, N.C. - A duck hunter discovered a deceased person on the shore line between Manns Harbor and Stumpy Point near Point Peter Rd. around 3 p.m., Monday.
Dare County Sheriffs Department, NC Wildlife Law Enforcement, Dare County Medical Examiners, and Stumpy Point Volunteer Fire Department worked together to recover the body.
According to the news release, officials were not able to positively identify the body at the scene, so the body will be moved to the NC Medical Examiner’s Office in Greenville for an autopsy.
Police believe the man could be identified as the boater who went missing earlier in December, according to a report.
