DARE Co., N.C. - All students in Dare County will be learning from home until January.

In an emergency meeting Friday evening, the Dare County Board of Education voted to return to 100% virtual learning through January 15.

The vote was 6-1.

Schools in the county reopened on October 26 after the Board unanimously voted to reopen schools in their Oct. 1 meeting.

The Board approved Option 2, where students in Pre K-5 will go to school every day (Plan A), while students in grades 6-12 will attend school (Plan B) in two cohorts on a hybrid schedule.

Officials said when grades 6-12 are not in school, they will work remotely. The K-12 DCS Virtual School also began on October 26.

News 3 has reached out to the school division to get a firm date on exactly when students will transition to virtual learning. We will update this story when we hear back.
