NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A death investigation is underway after a man was found dead in Newport News Monday night.
Around 8:34 p.m., police responded to Thimble Shoals Boulevard, which is near Jefferson Avenue, in reference to a man lying in the street.
Officers arrived on scene and saw that the man, identified as 61-year-old Paul Alfred Smith, had injuries. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police said Friday, February 14 that Smith fell into the roadway before being struck by a vehicle. It was later determined that his injuries were caused by an auto-pedestrian crash.
The driver remained on scene, and no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
