Double shooting in Hampton leaves one man dead, another man in critical condition

HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police Division is investigating a double shooting that left one man dead and one seriously injured Sunday evening.

Around 8:31 p.m., officials received a call in reference to a shooting in the 300 block of East Mercury Boulevard.

When officers arrived they found a 29-year-old male and a 31-year-old male on the sidewalk, who had been shot. Both were taken to a local hospital where the 31-year-old male is being treated for life-threatening injuries and the 29-year-old male was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation, both men were shot during an altercation and was found shot on the sidewalk. The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.

Officials say investigators have identified all those involved and are speaking with the other individual in the altercation.
