CAPE CHARLES, Va. - One person was left dead after a fatal two vehicle crash on Fisherman Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel Saturday.
Police say a two vehicle crash occurred around 4:39 p.m., after a four door sedan that was traveling northbound on Fisherman Island ran off the road.
Witnesses say they saw the driver of the sedan try to regain control and instead crossed into the southbound lane, striking a pick up truck head on.
Police say the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead on the scene and the other driver in the pick up truck was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries.
Cape Charles Rescue Service responded to the scene along with Cheriton and Cape Charles Fire Departments.
The fatal crash resulted in the closing of all traffic for an hour and a half.
