ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. - The Elizabeth City Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that led to a crash in Pasquotank County.

According to police, the Hertford Police Department responded to King Street Friday night to investigate a reported shooting. Officers attempted to stop a sedan in connection with the shooting, but the vehicle failed to stop and entered Pasquotank County.

The driver, a juvenile, lost control of the vehicle and struck a house on North Road Street. A male subject fled from the backseat of the vehicle, while its other three occupants were trapped inside.

The driver and two passengers were detained and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the sedan had been reported stolen from Ward Street in Elizabeth City November 25.

Charges are pending, and the Hertford Police Department is asking for assistance with identifying and locating the person who fled the scene, saying it relates to their shooting investigation.
