CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Officers are investigating after a police chase lead to a crash and suspects fleeing late Tuesday night.

Around 11:15 p.m., officers saw a 2015 Infiniti Q50 being operated in the area of Greenbrier Parkway and Eden Way without headlights on.

Police said a traffic stop was initiated due to the safety violation and the vehicle disregarded the signal to stop and sped away.

A brief police pursuit started and Police said the suspect vehicle sped down Greenbrier Parkway towards Kempsville Road. The pursuing cruiser lost sight of the suspect vehicle near Kempsville Road and the pursuit was ended, according to officials.

Moments later police said a call came in to the Dispatch Center about a vehicle that crashed on Great Bridge Blvd., behind the intersection of Willow Point Arch.

When Officers arrived on scene they found that it was the same vehicle from the pursuit that happened recently. By this time the vehicle had caught fire and was fully engulfed, police said.

The Chesapeake Fire Department responded and extinguished the flames.

Police said both suspects ran before police got there. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Virginia Beach.

The incident is currently under investigation.
