DARE Co., N.C. – A 24-year-old man is in custody after a shooting incident that took place on Sunday.
Around 9 p.m., Kill Devil Hills police were dispatched to a 911 call involving a shooting incident in the 300 block of W. 3rd Street. A caller said a friend had been shot in the leg and the shooter had fled the scene.
The suspect in this case was identified as Isaias E. DePaul, 24, who was arrested this afternoon. Through an arrangement with his attorney, DePaul turned himself in peacefully.
The investigation determined that the victim and DePaul were known to each other. They had a verbal disagreement earlier in the day on the beach.
DePaul allegedly later went to the victim’s residence on 3rd Street with his brother and another friend. Officials said they assaulted the victim and his friends in the front yard.
The fist fight escalated and DePaul allegedly produced a gun, which he is accused of using to shoot the victim in the leg. DePaul and his associates fled west on 3rd Street, officials reported.
He was transported to the Dare County Detention Center and placed under a $20,000 secured bond.
The photo of DePaul is a prior booking photo.
