Five COVID-19 related deaths reported in Virginia in a day, number significantly down

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 31,140 total cases, 29,591 of which are confirmed and 1,549 are probable. There are 1,014 total coronavirus related deaths, with 980 being confirmed and 34 being probable. The case numbers are up by 752, and deaths are up by five since Sunday.

A total of 218,393 testing encounters in Virginia have occurred.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Monday there are 1,502 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 530 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. 361 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

194 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 629 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 2,993 in the state - that's 21% usage.

4,107 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake- 387 cases, 78 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Accomack- 690 cases, 30 hospitalized, 9 deaths
  • Northampton- 198 cases, 14 hospitalized, 9 deaths
  • Hampton- 163 cases, 30 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Norfolk- 361 cases, 56 hospitalized, 5 deaths
  • James City County- 187 cases, 54 hospitalized, 15 deaths
  • Newport News- 206 cases, 38 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Poquoson- 7 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths
  • Williamsburg- 43 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • York County- 63 cases, 9 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Portsmouth- 228 cases, 39 hospitalized, 10 deaths
  • Gloucester- 28 cases, 7 hospitalized, 1 deaths
  • Virginia Beach- 557 cases, 86 hospitalized, 19 deaths
  • Franklin City- 32 cases, 2 hospitalized, 1 deaths
  • Isle of Wight- 119 cases, 10 hospitalized, 3 deaths
  • Southampton- 137 cases, 4 hospitalized, 2 deaths
  • Suffolk- 269 cases, 41 hospitalized, 22 deaths
