Four hurt after three-vehicle crash in Suffolk

SUFFOLK, Va. - Four people were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash in the 7500 block of Whaleyville Boulevard near Collins Road Monday night.

Dispatchers received a call about the crash at 7:36 p.m. Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, and Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews gave the victims emergency medical assessment and treatment.

One woman was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital; her injuries are said to be serious. A man was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment for his injuries, which are also said to be serious. Gates County EMS took another man and another woman to a local hospital for treatment for minor injuries.

The road in the immediate area is currently closed and is expected to be closed for an extended period of time as the vehicles are removed and crews clean the road of debris.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
