GLOUCESTER, Va. - Gloucester man Dennis Chambers was charged with second-degree murder and malicious wounding in connection with an incident that left a 5-month-old child dead and a woman severely injured.

Dennis Chambers was arrested Wednesday after the police were called in reference to a female victim and her child who had not been heard from in an unusually long period of time.

When deputies responded to the home in the 4200 block of Aberdeen Road, they found the woman suffering from severe injuries. Her child, a female infant, was found dead.

Authorities say the woman, identified as Dennis Chambers's wife, is currently in critical but stable condition.

Dennis Chambers was found in New Kent County and is now in the custody of the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office without bond.
