NORFOLK, Va. - A Gloucester woman won the $500,000 top prize in the Virginia Lottery's Ca$h Cha$er game after buying a ticket at a Norfolk Food Lion.
According to the Virginia Lottery, Katherine Byrd didn't think she'd win anything, and went back into the store to check with the clerk "before she got excited" after she saw the winning result.
Byrd says she plans on using her winnings to pay off her student loans and get ready for her October wedding.
The ticket was bought at 8401 Hampton Boulevard, the lottery said.
