VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - A local pizza shop made it their mission to feed not only some, but hundreds of front line workers Thursday.

Employees of Donato's Pizza prepared 700 pizzas for staff at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital! News 3 got at a look at some of behind-the-scenes preparation that went into the kind gesture.

Workers loaded them into boxes and delivered them to the hospital. One of their employees told us why they thought it is important to get involved and donate.

“We want to let them know that we are so grateful. They are putting themselves in harm’s way and their families in harm’s way, and this is a major crisis,” Community Outreach Coordinator Waverly Woods explained, “and they are our first line of defense."
