NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The World Mission Society Church of God partnered with Virginia Peninsula Food Bank to hold a food drive, and Wednesday they will deliver 4,000 pounds of food donations to local food pantries.
At 1:30 p.m., volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God will load non-perishable food items into a delivery truck that will be sent to the Virginia Peninsula Food Bank.
Volunteers gathered goods from their workplaces, going door-to-door and tabling events in the Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake areas.
The drive will support food pantries that are experiencing food shortages because of the coronavirus pandemic.
All participants will adhere to CDC guidelines of social distancing and wearing facial coverings.
