Hampton Police investigating homicide after man shot in front of apartment dies

HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police are investigating a shooting in the 3700 block of Kecoughtan Road that left one person injured Wednesday night.

Officers responded a report of a shooting in the area at 8:03 p.m.

When they arrived on scene, they found Eric Lydell Pridgen Jr., a 19-year-old Newport News man
who had been shot.

He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. due to responders saying his injuries are life-threatening. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed the man was in front of an apartment when he was hit by gunfire.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
