Hampton Police need help identifying carjacking suspect

HAMPTON, Va. – Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect(s) in connection with a robbery/carjacking incident that happened on May 25.

Around 3 a.m., Public Safety Communications got a call about a carjacking that had just happened in the 200-block of Union Street.

Police said the investigation revealed that the victim, a 43-year-old Hampton man, was exiting his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect displayed a knife and demanded the vehicle.

After a brief confrontation with the victim, the suspect assaulted him with the knife before fleeing the area on foot, police said.

The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital and released.

Police said the suspect was described as a tall, dark-skinned black male. The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation.
