HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police responded to a fatal shooting Monday afternoon.

Police say the shooting took place inside a commercial building in the first block of Research Drive around 4:37 p.m.

According to police, one person was pronounced dead on scene, and another victim was sent to Sentara CarePlex Hospital.

On Tuesday, police identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Jaquan Tisdale. The second victim, a 36-year-old Hampton man, was treated at a local hospital and released.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation, and there is no suspect information at this time.

Inside building number 22 is where the shooting took place. There isn’t a business sign on the outside, and what goes on inside isn’t known to many.

The lights were out, and no one came to the door when News 3 knocked Tuesday afternoon.

Police say it’s a commercial property that rents out space inside.

Carol Zeno is president of Universal Laboratories next door. She says she’s been suspicious of the customers coming into her neighbor’s building for years.

“The activities, the times of day, the building is wide open at night, a lot of people, we find a lot of beer bottles - a lot of whiskey bottles - drug paraphernalia laying around,” she says.

Security Video from Zeno’s business captured images of Tisdale laying lifeless on the ground.

Zeno says the video shows four people inside building 22 during the shooting. She wants to work with the city to see what can be done to prevent something like this from happening again.
