Hampton Roads makes up 44% of Virginia's daily coronavirus case rise with 506 new cases

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving coronavirus cases within the state.

According to their website, there are now 94,251 total cases, 90,278 of which are confirmed and 3,523 are probable. There are 2,244 total coronavirus related deaths, with 2,134 being confirmed and 110 being probable.

The case numbers are up by 1,145 and there were 26 deaths reported since Monday. Hampton Roads and its surrounding cities saw 506 new cases and 28 additional hospitalizations from Monday.

A total of 1,164,515 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.

The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Tuesday, there are 880 people currently being hospitalized for coronavirus. There are 375 people currently receiving inpatient hospital care whose test results are pending. Combined, there are a total of 1,255 being hospitalized for coronavirus related illness. That's 50 more hospitalizations from Monday.

282 confirmed positive patients, and those whose test results are pending, are currently hospitalized in the ICU.

144 hospital patients, both confirmed for coronavirus, and those with test results pending, are currently on a ventilator. 615 ventilators are being used in hospitals out of the 3,069 in the state - that's 20% usage.

12,385 patients who have been hospitalized for coronavirus have been discharged.

  • Chesapeake 2,689 cases, 217 hospitalized, 30 deaths (+72 cases, +4 hospitalizations, +1 death from Monday)
  • Accomack 1,082 cases, 78 hospitalized, 15 deaths (+2 cases from Monday)
  • Northampton 295 cases, 48 hospitalized, 29 deaths (+1 cases, +3 hospitalizations, +1 death from Monday)
  • Hampton 1,103 cases, 49 hospitalized, 7 deaths (+33 cases, +2 deaths from Monday)
  • Norfolk 3,425 cases, 178 hospitalized, 26 deaths (+80 cases, +5 hospitalizations from Monday)
  • James City County 572 cases, 59 hospitalized, 16 deaths (+10 cases from Monday)
  • Newport News 1,717 cases, 78 hospitalized, 18 deaths (+46 cases, +4 hospitalizations, +2 deaths from Monday)
  • Poquoson 40 cases, 2 hospitalized, 0 deaths (+1 case from Monday)
  • Williamsburg 117 cases, 12 hospitalized, 6 deaths (+5 cases from Monday)
  • York County 330 cases, 14 hospitalized, 3 deaths (+12 cases from Monday)
  • Portsmouth 1,631 cases, 129 hospitalized, 24 deaths (+91 cases, +4 hospitalizations from Monday)
