NORFOLK, Va. - Hampton Roads Transit announced Friday that it will run fewer bus routes and less frequently beginning Tuesday, March 31.
HRT said in a release that the goal is to operate reduced services while still supporting connectivity to medical facilities, major employers and other locations for essential trips.
All bus service will operate on a 60-minute headway except the Peninsula Commuter Routes and some MAX routes, HRT said. Select bus and light rail seats will be tied up and unavailable for use to promote social distancing.
Extensive cleaning of all transit vehicles and facilities will continue, HRT said.
