Victim dies following Hampton shooting, police investigating

HAMPTON, Va. - The Hampton Police Division is investigating a shooting in the 200 block of Breckenridge Court that left someone dead Wednesday night.

At 9:21 p.m., dispatch received multiple calls about a shooting that occurred in the 200 block of Breckinridge Court. When officers arrived, they located a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a residence.

The Hampton Division of Fire and Rescue took the victim to a local hospital to be treated for his life-threatening injuries. Police said the man later died due to his injuries.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim was in the roadway when he was struck by gunfire.

The motive and circumstances surrounding this incident remain under investigation and there is no suspect information to disseminate at this time.
