HAMPTON, Va. - A Hampton woman will serve more than seven years behind bars for possessing cocaine and for distribution while possessing a firearm.
According to the Department of Justice, 37-year-old Marquita Meredith was convicted for distributing cocaine from her residence in Hampton. Meredith is a mother and was pregnant during the drug conspiracy, and had children in her residence during drug sales in 2018 and 2019.
In January 2019, officers recovered more than an ounce of cocaine from Meredith's residence, court documents said. Children were at the home when the search warrant was executed, officials said.
Court documents also say that Meredith possessed over half an ounce of cocaine and a firearm during a November 2017 traffic stop in Newport News.
