Home severely damaged following James City County fire

JAMES CITY Co., Va. - Units from the James City County Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 100 block of Thompson Lane early Sunday morning.

The call for the fire came in at 12:51 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find fire showing from the front of the single story home.

According to the department, the home's occupants safely exited prior to the fire department arriving.

The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage throughout.

The James City-Bruton Volunteer Fire Department, Williamsburg Fire Department and York County Department of Fire and Life Safety assisted. The fire's cause remains under investigation by the James City County Fire Marshal’s Office.
