James City Co. man arrested in West Virginia in connection with December 2020 shooting that left victim paralyzed

A James City County man was arrested in connection with a December 2020 shooting in Williamsburg that left a man paralyzed.

Alexander Xavier Berkley, 29, was taken into custody in Clarksville, West Virginia and charged with three counts of attempting to commit a non-capital offense, shooting in commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated malicious wounding. He was also served misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of brandishing a firearm.

The charges were in relation to a December 26 shooting on Rochambeau Drive, which left the victim seriously injured. At the time, officers described the shooting as an 'isolated incident.'

Berkley is currently being held in the North Central Regional Jail in Doddridge County, West Virginia, awaiting extradition back to York County.
