Juvenile critically injured in Suffolk crash involving train and vehicle

SUFFOLK, Va. - Officials are investigating a crash that happened on Saturday morning.

Rescue crews were at the scene of a crash involving a train and a vehicle around 9:45 a.m., in the 1300 block of Portsmouth Boulevard.

There were two occupants in the passenger vehicle at the time of the crash, police said.

Following assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel, a juvenile male was taken via Nightingale to an area hospital with critical injuries and an adult male has been ground transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Saturday evening, police reported that they are both in stable condition. The driver was charged with reckless driving on private property.

There are no reported impacts on additional railroad crossings in the Suffolk as a result of the crash, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. There is no additional information is available at this time.
