RICHMOND, Va. -- School Districts throughout Central Virginia are extending their closures as the Coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the region.
School districts throughout the region announced Wednesday that schools will continue to be closed through mid-April.
On March 13, Gov. Ralph Northam ordered that all Virginia public schools close for at least two weeks. But as Virginia's Coronavirus case numbers continue to rise and social-distancing measures increase, many school districts are extending their closures.
All school districts are working with the Virginia Department of Health to create food pick-up and delivery centers where students and families can receive meals.
Richmond: Richmond Public Schools will tentatively reopen on April 13.
Chesterfield: Chesterfield County schools and school division offices will be closed through at least April 13.
Henrico: Henrico County Public Schools will extend the closure of its school facilities through Spring Break. April 14 is now the earliest possible date for a return to school.
Hanover: Hanover County Public Schools will be closed through April 12. This includes all extracurricular events and use of our buildings by any group.
Powhatan: Powhatan County Public Schools will be closed through at least April 13.
Goochland: Goochland County Public Schools will be closed for an additional two weeks through Sunday, April 12.
Charles City: Charles City County Public Schools will be closed through April 12.
