Man arrested in connection to James City County house burglary

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. - Police have arrested a man in connection to a house burglary.

According to police, in the early morning hours of September 7, someone broke into a home in the Toano area and stole five long guns, two iPhones, an iPad, a Dell laptop and several collector’s knife sets.

24-year-old Nicholas Haufler, of Newport News, was identified as the suspect by police.

Haufler was arrested Sunday in Newport News and is currently being held at the Newport News City Jail.

He has been charged with burglary, grand larceny, theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to police.

Police say they were able to recover several of the guns and electronics.
