PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. - A man has been arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting that took place early Sunday morning.
Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office says officials received a call around 1:21 a.m. about gun shots fired in the 2200 block of Main St Ext., Elizabeth City, N.C.
When police arrived, Willis Alonzo George III was found unresponsive, suffering from gunshot wounds.
George was later pronounced dead on scene.
Police say the suspect was located at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital being treated for a gunshot wound.
Marquis Dahve Whidbee, of Elizabeth City, N.C., is being charged with first degree murder and is currently being detained at Norfolk City Jail under no bond, while awaiting extradition to North Carolina.
Police say this is currently an ongoing investigation.
