Man charged with second-degree murder in connection with fatal Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK, Va. - A Norfolk man was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection with a fatal Saturday morning shooting.

According to police, around 5:09 a.m. Saturday, 43-year-old Alfred M. Robinson was found inside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound in the 200 block of Poplar Avenue. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested Elkay A. Payne, 43, on charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in connection with the incident.

Detectives have not released the motive or circumstances surrounding this homicide.

Payne is currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
