WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Williamsburg Police Department is investigating after a crash left a 44-year-old man dead Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, police were called to the 1900 block of Bypass Road at 1 p.m. in response to the crash. When they arrived, they found a 2007 Chrysler Sebring that had traveled off the road and struck a tree.

The driver, Saluda man Kevin Epps, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the Sebring was traveling south on Capital Landing Road when Epps drove over an unprotected median and lost control of the vehicle. Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.

Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) responded to the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call the Williamsburg Police Department at (757) 220-2331.

This is a developing story.
