Man dies after shooting in Chesapeake; police investigating as homicide

CHESAPEAKE, Va. - A man has died after a shooting in the 2000 block of Linster Street Thursday night.

Around 9:43 p.m., Chesapeake Police responded to the 4200 block of Reid Street in reference to several calls of gunshots in the area. When officers arrived on scene, they found the man dead from a gunshot wound in the 2000 block of Linster Street.

On Friday, the victim was identified as 29-year-old Datron Porch.

There is no other information or suspect description at this time. Chesapeake Police are currently investigating the incident as a homicide.

Police added that around 11:24 p.m. Thursday, another man took himself to a local hospital for treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers responded to investigate weather he had been hurt in the shooting in the area of Linster Street earlier in the night.

Officials determined that the man was in the area of Reid and Linster Streets at the time of the shooting and had been hit by a bullet during the gunfire that was reported.

The incident remains an active and ongoing investigation.
