Woman charged with hit-and-run, DUI after fatal Norfolk crash

NORFOLK, Va. - Norfolk Police have arrested a woman who fled the scene after a fatal crash Monday night.

Around 9:20 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 3200 block of Tidewater Drive at the intersection of Lafayette Boulevard for a report of a crash with injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, identified as 51-year-old Paul F. Stone, was a passenger in a Toyota Avalon. Police say the driver of the Toyota was making a turn onto Lafayette Boulevard from Tidewater Drive when they were hit by a Chrysler van.

Stone was pronounced dead on scene, and the driver of the Toyota Avalon was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler van was identified as Onyx J. Harmon, 27, of Norfolk. Police say Harmon left the scene on foot but later returned.

Harmon was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle while intoxicated, refusal of a breath or blood test and hit-and-run.
