Man flown to hospital following Suffolk shooting

SUFFOLK, Va. - The Suffolk Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say they were contacted regarding the shooting at 2:35 p.m.

According to the preliminary investigation, it was determined that a man was shot while in the area of the 400 block of Wilson Street, and then sought assistance while in the 200 block of Wellons Street.

He received emergency medical assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was then airlifted to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A vehicle in the area was also damaged by gunfire,police say.

The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
