Man found dead after apparent hit-and-run in Newport News, police investigating

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Police are investigating after a man was found dead Friday morning after an apparent hit-and-run.

Around 7 a.m., Newport News Communications got a call about a subject lying in the grass off the roadway near a bicycle in the 500 block of J Clyde Morris Boulevard.

The call was reported by a passerby.

When officers got there, they said they located an adult male, identified as 61-year-old Johnny Kehn, who was pronounced deceased by medics at the scene.

It is unknown at this time when the incident occurred or who struck him, police said.

The Newport News Crash Team Unit is investigating this hit-and-run fatality.

After further investigation, officers announced on July 17 that they have narrowed down the make and model of possible vehicles involved in this incident:

  • 2001–04 Buick Century or Regal
  • 2001–04 Pontiac Grand Prix
  • 2003–05 GMC Sierra
  • 2003–05 Chevy Silverado

Investigators have also determined the vehicle is either black of dark grey and may have damage to the front passenger side.
