HERTFORD Co., N.C. - The Hertford County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside his home Monday night.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on July 6, deputies were called to a home in the 100 block of Buena Vista Road in Murfreesboro, North Carolina, for a welfare check on 58-year-old Tommy Rydell Parker, a lifelong Hertford County resident. Officials knocked on the door several times to no answer.
Deputies entered the home and found Parker on the floor unresponsive. EMS personnel responded to the scene and pronounced him dead.
Investigators determined that foul play was involved and say Parker's death, which is considered to be suspicious, is being investigated as a homicide.
The sheriff's office is asking anyone who lives on or near Buena Vista Road who noticed something suspicious or who may have information about this crime is asked to contact the Hertford County Sheriff's Office.
